Buildings of the future: Living and working between integration and automation

The upcoming energy discussion will get to the bottom of the costs, opportunities and potential of building automation and the integrated use of renewable energy. The influence of user behaviour and the aspects of security and data protection that arise from this will also be discussed.
Around 40 % of final energy across Austria is used in the domestic area for heating, cooling, lighting and electrical equipment. On the other hand, so-called Plus-Energy houses, which in operation produce more energy than they need, are already possible today through extensive thermal insulation, efficient electrical equipment and the integrated use of renewable energy. However, what is significant here is also correct user behaviour, as well as building automation for demand management and/or adjusting demand to meet the energy available.

Introductory notes
