Hidden underneath the Technisches Museum Wien (Vienna Museum of Science and Technology) is the popular historical display mine “Gabrielenzeche”. This tour gives you the opportunity to experience the coal mine digitally from a distance for the first time!

The virtual tour of the Gabrielenzeche provides insights into mining life. Two of our “miners” take you from the adits and shafts of the early 20th century to the last years of coal mining in Austria. In addition to covering daily work routine, mineworkers’ slang and dangers of mining, this online tour also shows historical machines in action! 
“Good luck!” or “Glück auf!”, as German-speaking miners say, to all who virtually “enter the mountain” on this tour! 

Details:
  • This online tour (via Zoom) is organised and supervised live by two cultural mediators.
  • You will need a computer (laptop/PC/tablet) with Internet access for using Zoom.
  • The link for the Zoom meeting will be sent to you by email about one hour before the online tour.
