The TMW manages the collections owned by the Republic of Austria in accordance with strict guidelines and fulfils its statutory duty to make the artefacts of technical development and innovation entrusted to it accessible to the general public.
Loan of collection items
It facilitates the loan of objects to national and international museums, as well as cultural and scientific institutions, for exhibition and research purposes. The loan of collection items from the Technisches Museum Wien (Vienna Museum of Science and Technology) and the Österreichische Mediathek (Austrian Media Library) is carried out in accordance with international museum standards and the Federal Museums Act of 2002.
For each official loan request, a fixed administration fee of € 100 (excluding VAT) will be charged. It is payable upon invoicing and is non-refundable, even in the event of cancellation or withdrawal of the loan request. The loan costs are determined by the actual expense of object handling, the drafting of the loan agreement, insurance, and any conservation or restoration work that may be required. The TMW also reserves the right to charge a loan fee. Photographic material for publications, information and promotional purposes is available upon request and subject to a fee.
