The concept of the “Cyberdeck” was borrowed from the sci-fi classic *Neuromancer* and describes a homemade, portable minicomputer—long before the first smartphone was even invented. In contrast, they are once again enjoying great popularity on social media today: This is an attempt to offload individual smartphone functions, reduce screen time, and thereby lessen dependence on multinational corporations as well as on AI features installed without consent.
Come with your own ideas for a Cyberdeck or with projects you’ve already started, and use the internet, collective wisdom, and the techLAB’s equipment to take a step closer to realizing your dream of your first small electronics project.
