Interwoven: From Fibre to Yarn

Rumpelstiltskin spins straw into gold. But is that really possible? On this guided tour, we’ll learn more about how clothes are made (and get to try a few things out for ourselves).

Guided Tour
In fairy tales, enchanting garments are often at the heart of the story. In our wardrobes, however, dresses, trousers and T-shirts often hang there almost unnoticed. But what journey might they have been on? Together, we’ll embark on a journey of discovery and see how a fibre becomes a garment. Along the way, we’ll also discover the tools used in this process and how clothing and its production influence our lives.

Finally, we’ll put what we’ve learnt into practice ourselves. How is wool prepared for spinning? How do we go from fibres to yarn, and how does weaving work? On our guided tour, you can try it out for yourself!
