Science Corner: Networking of man and machine

A museum stage for research projects of the TU Wien

Which technological innovations will shape the future of our lives, our mobility, our industries or our communication? The exhibition area "Science Corner" presents cutting-edge scientific research and state-of-the-art technological developments.
ENDED
The Science Corner of the Technisches Museum Wien (Vienna Museum of Science and Technology) offers a stage for current research projects of the TU Wien. In a yearly changing presentation, visitors can discover various facets of Austria’s dynamic research landscape and learn about forward-looking technologies that are currently being explored.

“Networking of man and machine”
The start was made by the Austrian Center for Digital Production, which focuses on optimising flexible production and logistics processes to facilitate the transition to a resource-efficient circular economy. Visitors learned how the intelligent networking of machines and workflows can optimise production processes and found out about the current and future applications of this technology. In addition, interested visitors could get actively involved and design a personal souvenir using a robotic arm.

Since Industry 4.0 creates a multitude of new research areas and professions from various fields of study, such as mechanical engineering, mechatronics, information and communication technology or ecology, many different researchers and career paths are presented in the Science Corner, enabling museum visitors – and especially young people – to personally and directly experience science, research and technology first-hand.
