The wait is over: Mission Control is back in action!
Twelve motivated teenseight returning Mission Control members and four potential new membersattended the first Mission Control meeting of the 2025–26 school year. Of course, the “old” Planet Hunters immediately told the (potential) new members about the amazing experiences they’ve had so far with Mission Control. They proudly presented their self-designed mission patch and talked about the various creative tasks involved in “Mission Prater.” A tour of the museum featuring a high-voltage demonstration was also a must.
Starting this year, things will be a little different, because Mission Control will no longer take place as part of the citizen science project “This is (not) rocket science!” (2022–2025), but is now conceived as a youth advisory board within the TMW. What does that mean? The MC will continue to meet regularly to conduct research together and learn about everything related to the museum, but will have a bit more freedom in terms of content. The topic of space will still be a central focus, as the MC will contribute their perspective as young people to the design of the TMW’s new space exhibition (opening in 2027).
