Just before the holidays, the time has finally come: Mission Control embarks on its first joint outing of the school year! The destination is the Vienna Prateror more precisely, the Windobona Indoor Skydiving experience.
After a thorough briefing by one of the trainers, who explains the correct flying posture for the wind tunnel and the key hand signals used for communication, it's time to get started. The members are excitedmaybe a little nervousbut they can’t wait to fly for themselves. While the first group gets suited up with flight suits, helmets, goggles, and earplugs, the second group receives a mission from the artists Gudrun and Nils, who are accompanying the Mission Prater project. The members observe what’s happening, document it using photos, videos, and audio recordings, and then interview each other about their experiences in the wind tunnel. Some report that the roughly one-minute flight time (everyone gets to fly more than once) feels both surprisingly long and far too short.
Beaming with pride, the members head into their well-earned holiday break, ready to recharge for the second semesterand for the continuation of Mission Prater. After all, the wind tunnel flight was only the beginning!
