TOURS FOR PEOPLE WITH DEMENTIA

Objects from the Technisches Museum Wien from steam engines and washing machines to televisions and musical instruments can bring back memories and stimulate exchange in a relaxed atmosphere.

Subjects

  • Highlights: Technology is part of our daily lives – both at home and on the go. This tour presents the most famous, most valuable and most fascinating inventions. But sometimes it is the ordinary exhibits that bring back special memories and stimulate dialogue. The objects provide a starting point for a lively exchange on your very first car, your favourite TV programme or familiar activities at home and at work.
  • Music in the air: We invite you to listen to music together, strike up a song or two or do a little dance. Fairground organs and historical mechanical automatic instruments are brought to life as if by an invisible hand. The music not only makes the walls of the Technisches Museum Wien vibrate, but can also deeply move us and bring back memories.
  • Living then and now: Our homes are full of technical inventions and our daily lives are hard to imagine without irons, washing machines or electric light. But household appliances have also undergone constant change – today they look different than they did 50 years ago. We go on a journey back in time and revive stories of objects and people.
