'And … action!' – The special effects of film

Kinder 8–12 Jahre
Ever shot a film? Well, come to the Technisches Museum Wien on your birthday and you’ll get a chance to make your own short film, with your friends to help you.

Films take us on a journey to fantastic worlds where incredible things can happen, things that are only possible on the big screen. In our film studio you’ll find out about certain tricks and techniques that are used in the world of movies and how they actually work; you’ll even get to try them out for yourself. You can take a peek behind the scenes, slip into a fantasy role or get to work behind the camera and put together a film trailer from individual clips. So what will your movie world like look?

The interactive stations at the exhibition on ‘SPECIAL EFFECTS – An Interactive Exhibition for Movie Fans’ are not part of the children’s birthday event. But you can of course visit the exhibition separately before or after the education programme.

For this workshop, participants are recorded on video. All participants agree to individual video recordings (scenes) being edited into a joint video. This video may then be shown on site at the Museum, on the TWM website and on the TMW’s social media channels and subsequently archived and used for the TMW’s own documentation purposes. The video will be forwarded to the contact person who made the original booking (teachers, parents, accompanying persons). The TMW operates on the assumption that the contact person who made the booking has cleared the image rights with the parents of the participating children.
