Blasting off into space to explore it and, who knows, perhaps even colonise it one day? The dream of outer space is as topical today as it was centuries ago.

How do we get into space? How can astronauts live in space? To what extent are visions and utopian technologies a part of space travel? What are we actually looking for out in space? The SPACE exhibition covers more than 600 m2 of surface area and focuses on all the aspects of outer space, from the fantasy musings of the Baroque age to the ambivalent development of space travel in the 20th century and the visionary ideas of the present. Historical exhibits from the museums’ collection are set to contrast with state-of-the-art research.

Getting to grips with the concept of space

The interactive stations at the exhibition invite you not only to get to grips with the theory of space travel, but also to focus close-up on the achievements of one of the world’s most thrilling sciences. Check out the Space Curl and the Docking Station to put your astronaut skills to test, explore the surface of Mars with a Mars-Rover, or build your very own virtual alien.
