High Moon

50 years moon landing in the TMW

In July 1969, Neil Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon. At that time the moon landing was considered the "greatest adventure of mankind". To mark the 50th anniversary, the Technical Museum Vienna is reviving the technical feat in a setting and showing its large Apollo models.

The lunar lander, the Apollo command capsule, the lunar suit and the original lunar rock, which the astronauts of Apollo 11 brought back to Earth on their mission, illustrate the race to the moon and the adventure of the moon landing for the museum visitors. The theme "Women and NASA" as well as a preview of the plans to build an international lunar station round off the show.
