Robots are to be found everywhere – but where exactly? Well, at the Technisches Museum Wien for one!

But what is it that makes a machine a genuine “being” and what does it take for us to regard a robot as “just” a machine? What sort of technology is behind “androids” and “cyborgs”? What role does science fiction play in robotics? And what do the automata of the Baroque period have in common with today’s humanoids?

Explore the history, current trends and visions of robotics on more than 1,000 m2 of exhibition space. And discover some quite unique exhibits, with futuristic tin men, toy robots, vintage automata and giant industrial robots all gathered together in one place.

Robolab

From RobotMe! to Robozoo, the interactive Robolab is the place to be for all those who like to check things out for themselves. Created in co-operation with the Ars Electronica Futurelab, the Robolab is a fun way for everyone to try their hand at programming and controlling a robot – and getting up close and personal with it. Activities include trying to escape an industrial robot, virtually transforming yourself into a cyborg, or falling head over heels in love with Paro, the robot baby harp seal.
